About the Order of Corpus Christi: Basic
Beliefs
Being of one Baptism, of water and the
Spirit, into the Body of Christ, renewed
and sustained in and through this one
Body by the Holy Eucharist, we affirm
our faith and commitment to the Church
of Jesus Christ. We believe the Church
to be the visible body of our Lord and
Savior.
(from Order of Corpus Christi:
Foundation Document)
As members
of the Order of Corpus Christi, we believe the gospel is
our daily call and guide to be part of the visible Body
of Christ. We are made one in the Body of Christ through
active participation with other members of Christ body
and keeping the passion and resurrection of Christ
foremost in thought and worship.
Recognizing that oneness in Christ has many expressions
and work of the sacraments in our lives, and affirming
our commitment to an
evangelical,
reformed,
catholic,
and apostolic Church, we
-
accept the structure and polity
presented in the COCU documents, i.e.,
synods, bishops, and other
ecclesiastical offices and officers;
-
with other members of the Body of
Christ, accept the creeds, confessions
and sacraments―including infant baptism
in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit, and the mystical presence of
Christ in the Holy Eucharist― and the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We
covenant together as members of the Order of Corpus
Christi, in the sure and certain hope that we shall
indeed be one in Christ.
